Karla AVELAR, is a 43-year-old Salvadoran trans woman, currently a political refugee in Switzerland. She was forced to flee her country due to multiple threats, political and gang persecution, deprivation of liberty and extortion against her and her mother.
She is the founder of the COMCAVIS TRANS Association in 2008 in El Salvador, in 2013 she sued El Salvador before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) and in 2014 she participated in the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) before the United Nations in Geneva.
She is currently studying French and Italian, she is also studying accounting, she is part of the steering committee of the ASILE association and the International Platform against Impunity. He is also currently writing his autobiographical book.
