She says that these funds are vital for mitigation and adaptation especially in countries like Uganda hosting large numbers of refugees who put pressure on forests and natural areas as their only source for fuel and food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Devota Nuwe on COP26, refugees and climate change\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xDsNZGhChgQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WRMC President Fen Hampson <\/strong>said leaders at COP26 must look at adaptation strategies and not just prevention, because climate change and the problems that we are seeing today won&#8217;t disappear anytime soon. &#8220;By the time people show up at a country\u2019s borders it\u2019s already too late,&#8221; Hampson said.
